La Grande Arche

In architecture on July 9, 2010 at 7:00 am
I love La Grande Arche (de La Défense), although it doesn’t agree with my vertigo, and was thrilled to see this proposal from Stéphane Malka. The insertion of low cost (€3000) living units beautifully augments an already stunning building. Put me down for a unit near ground though me thinks.

Fresh from field testing in Germany our auto friends are rolling out the “Direct Recption” concept in their UK Audi Centres that will “enable Audi customers to view in ‘real time’, and communicate with, technicians as they carry out diagnosis and repair work.” No more wondering if they are twidling their thumbs or riffling through your glove box whilst they should be kicking tyres…

Working on a really great retail project at the moment and would love to incorporate a kinetic element like this from rAndom International into the scheme…

A little step further forward towards roll-up screen technology from Sony . The flexible OLED screen can be rolled up to a radius of 4mm from its flat size of 4.1 inches (105mm). Looking forward to large format versions of this cropping up all over the place in years to come.

~80 micometers thick, screen size 4.1 inches~

I’ve been researching supermarket innovation recently and this popped up…MPreis is the best value full range supermarket in Austria but its looks are certainly deceiving. Its Tyrol’s most popular supermarket serving 150,000 customers a day and you can see why below. For further great images folloew the link at the bottom of the image. Incidently their website is a stunner too. Tesco, Sainsburys and Waitrose pleeeeese take heed!

Was sent this today by a friend and colleague (Thanks Peaky), and it took my breath away, especially after posting about Hass&Hahn earlier in the week, simply click and marvel….
